Leonard R. Elam, of Morris, passed away peacefully, at the age of 71, on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, surrounded by the love of his family. Len was born on July 16, 1951, the son of the late Leonard E. and Delores (nee Lenzie) Elam. Born and raised in Joliet, he was a graduate of Joliet West High School. After a long, dedicated career as a mechanic, he retired from Filtration Group Corporation. He formerly worked at Caterpillar and Dart Container Corporation.

Len enjoyed everything that the outdoors had to offer. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was extremely proud of the produce he grew in his garden. However, it was his skills on the grill that earned him the title of "BBQ Master".

Len is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Anna Lucia (nee Valeriano) Elam; one son, Jamse L. Elam; step-children, Ramiro Orozco, Alicia Castaneda, Miguwl Orozco, Jo Orozco, and Alejandro Orozco; as well as his siblings, Susan (the late Tom) Senffner; Nancy (the late Ralph) Lipe, and Carl Elam. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded by his parents; and his second wife, Connie J. (nee LeSear) Elam.

A Memorial Gathering for Leonard R. Elam will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Rd.), Morris, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon. As it was Len's request, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place privately at Wheeler Cemetery in Mazon, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet.
